The PFRF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist families that have been affected by cancer. The foundation's major focus is to provide financial assistance to children/siblings of cancer patients to further their education. Community outreach, education, and research are also focal points of the foundation.

The foundation has been serving both Southeastern Michigan and Southwestern Michigan since January 2008. PFRF's goal is to "Turn tears into smiles, one child at a time!"
